I've Never Been Able to Decide ...

... whether this song is the perfection of misery or the misery of perfection.

But what am I talking about?  It's Purcell and Dryden!  What could be miserable in that?


I think the answer must somehow lie in the source story ... 
But hey, it's still a great song!

Interesting piece. Not sure why the background includes several other composers though.

I think it would be a lot better with harpsichord (as it probably was meant to have) or guitar accompaniment.

I know the piano is a keyboard instrument, but its character is so different from the harpsichord.

Is there a piano in this recording? I only heard a bass-lute.

Oi, now, I liked it. I didn't have anything pertinent to say, before, but I did enjoy it.
